High Cholesterol Studies

The MK0616-05 clinical study will test an oral investigational drug to see if it may safely and effectively lower the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, such as a heart attack, a stroke, or heart disease in participants at high cardiovascular risk.

Despite the availability of LDL-C lowering therapies to help lower cholesterol, many people still struggle to reach their target cholesterol levels. High cholesterol, if left untreated, can lead to a type of heart disease called atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which increases the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke.

Currently available treatments are effective tools to treat high cholesterol but some must be provided by a doctor by injection and can be hard for people to access.

A clinical study is underway at our Woodstock location to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational once-daily oral PCSK9 inhibitor to see whether it may lower LDL-C.
